need a lot of work you could take 2 times a cruise to Cancun, the boat stops in Progreso for one day. Or you go by plane to Merida (international airport) or from Cancun + 1st class bus to Merida and then a taxi to Progreso. Hotels are cheap in Merida and Progreso. Starting at $ 30 per night. Climate is fantastic in the winter.
