Please introduce yourself

Budapest Dental Trips are here to help patients navigate the world of dental tourism: to find the best form of treatment for their specific needs, to alleviate the stress of travelling to a foreign country, and to help them realize incredible savings while they do it.
Dental treatment can be stressful, even when it’s at a local clinic. The thought of treatment in an unfamiliar and foreign city can be even more daunting.

At Budapest Dental Trips, we understand that patients seeking treatment abroad have unique concerns. We also recognize that a great dental experience doesn’t begin and end in the dentist’s chair.

Our mission is to manage our patients concerns, alleviate their worries and make the experience as smooth and pleasant as possible…. whatever the concern, whatever the requirement, we are here from beginning to end to help in all aspects of the experience, from choosing the right dentist at the right price, to helping arrange travel, accommodation and tours within the patient’s budget and time constraints.

Why should someone choose you over the competition?

Our Patient’s expectations may be great, but so is our ability to meet them. We don’t recommend run-of- the- mill dentists, we don’t promote clinics that we haven’t vetted, and we don’t treat our patients like just another number.

We are specialists in the dental industry; we “talk” dentistry: we know the questions to ask, the materials to use, the technology to rely on. All of the dentists we work with have been background checked and met in person. The clinics, too, have been scrutinized; from the general condition of the clinic, to the equipment used, to the sterilization procedures followed, to the training courses taken, to the fluency of English spoken.

It’s simple: We know what needs to be done. We do it. We do it well.

Where do most of your patients come from?

Mainly from word of mouth and recommendations from other satisfied patients. We also have a growing web presence, centred on our website.

What procedures do you typically recommend and perform?

We’ll only recommend a course of treatment that is: 1) needed, 2) will achieve the desired outcome and 3) has every chance of success. Before any kind of treatment, a full examination is completed, at no cost or obligation to the patient. If needed, we’ll also take x-rays and a CT scan to confirm our findings. Once this has been done, we work with the patient to determine the best form of treatment for them. We would never make a generic recommendation for treatment without making sure it wasn’t suitable first.

What type of implants does your clinic use?

We believe that anyone with missing teeth should be able to benefit from implant treatment, regardless of their budget. For that reason, we offer implants across the full price spectrum, including SGS, Implant Direct, Nobel, Zimmer. Ankylos, Straumann and Legacy

Please give me a summary of the steps in the process of getting an implant at your clinic.

If a patient is happy to supply information about their condition (along with any available dental x-rays or CT scans) prior to their appointment, we can usually give an advance indication of their candidacy for implant treatment along with a provisional treatment plan and quotation. Once they arrive at the dentist’s chair, the first step is the No Obligation, Free of Charge Consultation.

During the consultation, the dentist will make use of x-rays and if needed, organize CT scans to evaluate the condition of the patient’s mouth/ bone tissue to make sure they are a suitable candidate for implants. They will then discuss the personalized treatment plan to ensure the patient is confortable and happy with the process.

Sometimes, other types of treatment may be needed to ensure the success of the implant. If so, the dentist will discuss this as part of the treatment plan. Possible treatments include:

  • Extraction in the case of a decayed tooth. If an extraction is required, we recommend the area is allowed to heal for between 4 and 6 months before implant surgery.
  • Bone Augmentation – If there is insufficient bone in the lower jaw, a bone augmentation may be needed. In this event, a healing period of 4-6 months may be required before implant surgery can begin.
  • Sinus Lift- if there is insufficient bone in the upper jaw, a Sinus Lift may be indicated. After a Sinus Lift, a minimum of 6-8 months is usually needed before implantation.

(Under certain circumstances, it may be possible to perform these treatments at the same time as the implant is placed. The dentist will determine the patient’s candidacy for this during the initial examination).

Once all the conditions for surgery have been met, and any recommended healing time has passed, the procedure can begin.

Can you please provide a quick description of the surgical procedure at your clinic?

Step 1- Implant Placement.
A small incision is made into the gum to expose the jaw. The implant is placed and the incision is closed. After placement, a healing time of 4-6 months is required, during which time the bone will ossify around the implant. If the patient requires temporary teeth during the healing process, they may either continue to wear their existing dentures or opt for fixed or removable temporary teeth made by our on-site laboratory.
Step 2- Impression for Final Restoration
(e.g. crown, bridge or implant retained denture)
The implant site is exposed via a small incision to allow access to the implant. Impressions are taken for the final restoration (a crown, bridge or denture) to be made.
Step 3- Fitting of Final Restoration.
An attachment called an abutment is fixed or screwed to the implant. The abutment acts as the anchor for the restoration, which is now secured in place.

How much do your procedures cost?

Prices range between £910 to £1620, depending on the implant system, abutment, and restoration used. These prices are fully inclusive of consultations, medical packs, x-rays, CT scans, implant, abutment and crown/ bridge.

What payment methods do you accept? Do you offer financing?

We accept payment by cash, credit/ debit card or bank transfer. If treatment is spread over multiple appointments, patients have the option of either paying the full amount upfront, or spreading the cost by paying after each visit only for the treatment received during that particular session.

How many appointments are required to get one or two implants?

In best case scenarios, implant treatment takes 2 visits. However, if the patient requires additional treatment, such as extractions or bone augmentation, this may result in more appointments being required. It all depends on the specific needs of the individual patient.

How long is the healing time like for patients who get dental implants?

After the initial surgery; a healing time of 3-6 months is usually recommended. The length of time depends in part on the sites of surgery and whether any bone augmentation/ grafting is required.

What do you advise your patients to do if they have a problem with their implant?

All of our products and services come with a guarantee. Depending on the implant system used, the guarantee period will range from 5 years to a lifetime. In the unlikely event of a problem with our work, we will cover all necessary dental and laboratory costs to rectify the problem. We will also provide free transport to/from the airport upon arrival and departure, as well as free tickets for public transport in Budapest.
