I am in process of having two implants. The abutments were being installed when one became stuck while being screwed in. After much effort, the whole fixture – abutment and base came out together and we are at the point of giving up. I was told that the two parts had fused, perhaps because of some dried blood causing a chemical process. This sounds like B.S. to me and I wonder if a thread got crossed. Anyone ever hear of something like this?
This doesn’t sound right at all, as all these component parts should be thoroughly clean and free from blood or other types of contamination. Ask what your dentist intends to do to fix this problem, and I’d get another opinion. If you can, try to find an experienced dental implant dentist or an oral surgeon who routinely places dental implants and who is willing to take a look and listen to your concerns.
